Biography
David Stanton was educated at Bootham School, York, and Balliol College, Oxford.
From 1997-2003 he was the UK Ambassador to UNESCO in Paris where he served as a member of the Executive Board. He was on the Executive Board of the World Bank in Washington, DC (1992-97) and of the Asian Development Bank in Manila (1979-82) and served in the UK Mission to the European Union in Brussels (1977-79).
He worked at the Overseas Development Administration in the 1970s and 1980s managing aid projects in Asia, Africa and the Caribbean and served as Head of the Departments dealing with South Asia, the European Union, Aid Policy and Finance. He was a Governor of Canonbury Primary School in Islington from 2003-2006.
David was elected to the Board of Trustees of UNICEF UK in July 2004. He has visited UNICEF field programmes in Laos (November 2004) and China (June 2006).
