    • Step 1 - Breastfeeding policy UNICEF UK/Jill Jennings 2006

When does antenatal information need to be given by? All of the information needs to have been given by 34 weeks in order that women do not miss out by giving birth.

    • Baby Friendly Logo UNICEF UK 2010

What do I need to make sure I cover in the antenatal conversation? Mothers need to know why breastfeeding is important and the implications of not breastfeeding for themselves and their baby.

I always find it hard knowing where to start

    • Baby Friendly Logo UNICEF UK 2010

Should I try to cover all of the information in one session? Each facility will have a different approach to this – dependent on how care is organised.

Wouldn’t it be easier just to cover it all in parent education classes?
