Assessment for Baby Friendly accreditation of a University takes place in several stages. Click on the links below to see each stage.

 
 
  • Breastfeeding Research UNICEF UK/Jill Jennings 2009

    Register of intent All universities providing courses in midwifery and health visiting/public health nursing are encouraged to register their intention to implement the standards.

  • Certificate of Commitment UNICEF UK/Jill Jennings 2006

    Certificate of Commitment A Certificate of Commitment is awarded when the university has met the requirements for Standards One and Three, and has developed an action plan for how the requirements for full accreditation are to be met. 

  • Baby in cot UNICEF UK/Jill Jennings 2009

    Stage 1 Stage 1 assesses the evidence that the learning outcomes will be met by the course. 

  • Breastfeeding antenatal information UNICEF UK/Jill Jennings 2006

    Stage 2 Two assessors will arrange to spend a day at the department carrying out face-to-face interviews. The lead lecturer for breastfeeding will be interviewed about the content and delivery of the education programme. 

  • Breastfeeding News and Research from the Baby Friendly Initiative UNICEF UK/Caroline Penn 2009

    Re-accreditation The first reassessment will take place within three years, with subsequent reassessments at intervals to be decided by the Baby Friendly Initiative’s designation committee.
