The impact of the introduction of the Baby Friendly Initiative in a Turkish hospital has recently been measured. 297 babies, born in the four months following implementation, were compared with a similar number born before implementation. Breastfeeding at six months was increased one-and-a-half fold after the implementation and breastfeeding was also statistically significantly improved by the end of the second year.
