The Department of Health, with support from the Baby Friendly Initiative, has produced a breastfeeding care pathway for mothers. It shows mothers what support they should expect to receive during pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.
It is based around the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding and the Seven Point Plan for Sustaining Breastfeeding in the Community and can be used in conjunction with the care pathway for Health Professionals.
