An introduction by Claire Chauncy
We are a small group of supporters who try to organise something at least every other month in the summer months. We have just had a successful collection which raised over £200, and organised another for the Haiti Earthquake Children’s Appeal.
We are lucky enough to have the opportunity of a stall in the garden of the Red House Museum, Christchurch. This is the second year for us as it was so successful last year. We have a couple of garden parties coming up and the possibly a coffee morning. We will organise a special tea in September at a small hotel who allow us to use their dining room with a small sale of nice items and a chap who plays the mandolin and a great lady who writes and recites her amusing poems.
We are an older group so we cannot do the things we used to. One of our great triumphs was holding a fashion show for two years running as we were lucky enough to have a member who was the Manageress of the Bournemouth branch of Country Casuals. We would recommend this to any group with the right contacts.
We send out best wishes to all groups and wish you success.ort, especially from younger people, both in the shops and on the fundraising committee which oversees the shops and organises other events.
If you would like more information about any of the groups in England or would like to set up your own, please email groups@unicef.org.uk or phone 020 7375 6110 for further information. New members are always welcome.
