The Norwich group continues with its 10 members to work steadily in response to emergency appeals, and other specific campaigns. We continue with bread and butter activities: car boot/table top sales, Jars of Grace, tin collections in pubs and stores, and appeals on local radio and articles in the local press. Recent events have included a successful dinnertime jazz concert put on at a popular venue by sixth-formers, 'Open Gardens' support, and the youthful new member running a half-marathon. One member continues to 'educate the public' about UNICEF by giving talks to a variety of groups, especially the WI. The Born Free from HIV campaign amazes these groups and gets the most generous contributions, and some individuals ask to contribute directly. Recent individual donations have been good, with two outstanding: one from a member's daughter, and an amazing £2,700 raised by a 92 year old man from his parachute jump!

We are now preparing for a collection at the eight performances of 'Chitty, Chitty Bang Bang' at the Theatre Royal in Norwich. The Group also has a couple of dedicated members who work really hard to raise funds with the sales of gifts and cards.

One other change took place this year. We meet in a city pub whose landlady asked to support UNICEF. She is now organising a summer craft sale in the garden to raise funds for emergencies.

If you would like more information about any of the groups in England or would like to set up your own, please email groups@unicef.org.uk or phone 020 7375 6110 for further information. New members are always welcome.
