UNICEF and schools have been working together on Day for Change for over 20 years. We ask schools to make a change in their day, and ask students, staff and parents to give a donation to UNICEF for making that change.

Day for Change officially takes place in February, but you can hold an event on any day of the school year that suits you. Over 2,000 schools signed up to take part in Day for Change 2011.

Climate Change in Guyana

Each year we choose a different country and a different theme for Day for Change. In 2011 we invited schools to help change the lives of children affected by climate change in Guyana, South America.

In Guyana, flooding is making it difficult for children to go to school. Children's rights are being threatened, as changing temperatures and an increase in disasters make food and water scarcer.

Denying child rights is wrong. Raise money through Day for Change and help us put it right.
