The Kilmarnock Group and Glasgow group have decided to join forces to become the Glasgow and West of Scotland UNICEF Group. Each group will still have local meetings whilst they are coordinating the merge.
The Glasgow Group was set up in April 2009. To date the group has had stalls at the local South Side and West End festivals to raise awareness of both UNICEF and the group itself, selling books and offering henna hand painting which was very popular. Future events include the Great Scottish Run in September 2009, a crime night with local crime writers, a short story competition in October, and pumpkin carving.
The group meets at local coffee houses and welcomes new members, new ideas and enthusiasm.
The Kilmarnock Group is a small fundraising group just south of Glasgow. In recent years they have successfully raised money for UNICEF from car boot sales and coffee mornings in collaboration with other charity groups. The Kilmarnock group is always keen for new and enthusiastic members.
If you would like more information about any of groups in Scotland or would like to set up your own, please email groups@unicef.org.uk or phone 020 7375 6029 for further information. New members are always welcome.
