Interested in being involved with a UNICEF group, but there is no group based in your area? Then set up your own UNICEF group with other like-minded and motivated people.
Why set up a new UNICEF group?
Groups get involved in lots of activities including coffee mornings, street collections during emergencies, music concerts, quiz nights and much more.
Starting a new UNICEF group is a fantastic way to get involved with UNICEF and make a difference to the lives of children all over the world. It’s also a great way of meeting new people in your area.
No experience is necessary to set up a local UNICEF group. All we ask is that you are enthusiastic and passionate about UNICEF’s work to uphold child rights and can volunteer some of your time. Your effort can result in big improvements to children’s lives. Our groups are very important to UNICEF and raised an impressive £160,000 in 2009.
When setting up a new group you will be joining a national network of UNICEF groups and will be supported by a dedicated fundraising officer.
Case study: Bedford UNICEF Group
Chris and Tammy Lowe are the leaders of UNICEF’s newest group, in Bedford. They decided to set up the group after being inspired by The Long Way Down TV show with UNICEF UK Ambassadors Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman. Their group has gone on from strength to strength with a wide variety of people of all ages and backgrounds attending meetings.
“Since setting up the Bedford Group we've been delighted with the huge diversity of people who have become members from all walks of life, though each sharing one common trait - the willingness to give up a little of their time to help others in need, and have fun in the process.”
Chris Lowe, Chairperson of the Bedford Group
If you are motivated, enthusiastic and can volunteer some of your time, please email groups@unicef.org.uk to receive our free booklet on how to set up a new group.
