Join our trek to the 'roof of Africa'

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest freestanding mountain in the world, is an extreme challenge. At 5,895 metres, it is physically demanding and involves moving from tropical climates to sub-zero temperatures as you approach the snow-capped summit.

The trek is achievable, and you don't need technical climbing skills. Our itinerary is devised to give you the best possible chance of reaching the summit.

Join us on the trek and challenge yourself for children everywhere: enquire today, and tell your friends through Twitter and Facebook.

Our route takes us to the remote north-eastern side of the mountain and follows the Rongai Route which, unlike some of the other routes, retains a true sense of wilderness. Once we reach the summit, our descent takes us along the wide paths of the Marangu Trail.

Set yourself the ultimate physical challenge, fundraise for charity, and visit an amazing part of the world while learning more about our work in the field.

Visit a UNICEF project in Tanzania

At the end of the trek, you'll see just how much of a difference your support makes to children like those we'll visit in UNICEF projects in Tanzania.

UNICEF is working in Tanzania to promote good hygiene practices among school children. This helps reduce the risk and spread of disease and helps children to stay healthy. Having proper sanitation facilities for girls can mean the difference between attending school and gaining an education and missing out altogether.

The practicalities

To take part in our Kilimanjaro trek, we ask that you raise a minimum sponsorship target. You will also need to pay a non-refundable deposit of £295. You'll receive the full support of a designated member of staff to help you reach your target and we'll give you plenty of ideas and advice to make your fundraising a success.

The trek takes place from 2 - 14 September 2012, so you have plenty of time to fundraise and train, but be sure to get in quickly to reserve your place. The brochure and registration pack are downloadable from the website.  If you would prefer to be sent a registration pack and brochure order yours now, please call our Helpdesk on 0844 801 2414 or fill out an online enquiry form.

This challenge is organised on behalf of UNICEF UK (Registered Charity No. 1072612) by Across the Divide Ltd (ATOL bond 6475). You must be at least 18 years old before the departure date of the event.

If you can't make the date for this trek, why not have a look at other overseas challenges that you could take part in?
