As a new group we're actively recruiting new members in Oxfordshire, UK or internationally. We meet once a month and are always happy to welcome new faces. Please get in touch if you would like to become a member of this group.
Angelie, the group's chair, is a passionate humanitarian, who holds the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights dear to her heart, and absolutely believes "the inherent dignity and…equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world".
Having grown up in Macau, Angelie is particularly passionate about the work UNICEF does in South East Asia, especially in Cambodia. Angelie has previously visited the country twice. On her most recent visit in 2011, she was truly inspired by the great work UNICEF does to help women and children in Cambodia who in a country still recovering from genocide are faced with extraordinary challenges, such as a staggeringly high maternal mortality rate, malnourishment, poor education, HIV/AIDS and sexual exploitation.
Angelie hopes that the Oxfordshire branch’s fundraising efforts can help increase the number of children finishing school, and this will in turn combat the exposure to HIV/AIDS and sex trafficking caused by young people migrating to cities in search of employment.
If you would like more information about any of the groups in England or would like to set up your own, please email groups@unicef.org.uk or phone 020 7375 6110 for further information. New members are always welcome.
