Over 2,000 schools signed up to take part in this year's Day for Change. We found out what some schools had been doing to raise money.
John Ball Primary School London in Blackheath South London. Asia is a pupil there and her family come form Guyana. Asia and her family were delighted that we are supporting their country her mum stayed up until midnight making her this beautiful t-shirt!. Asia was able to tell her classmates about Guyana and the challenges faced by the family members who still lived there. The school’s day was a roaring success and raised an amazing £520.86 – well done!
Aith Junior High on the Shetland Islands raised an amazing £300.17. Class S2 organised the day, getting the whole school involved in different activities. Some of the older children turned face painters for the younger children.
Christ Church C of E Primary School, Brixton held a special ‘Joke Assembly’ where some children stood at the front and told jokes. If the other children thought they were funny they would laugh Whoever told the best joke got the biggest laugh!

At Braintcroft Primary School in Brent, the students on the school council came up with the brilliant idea of staff and students changing places. Amina, 11, got the job of Headteacher for the day.
Students at Manor Prep school in Abingdon, Oxford, changed what they ate and held a cake sale at their school. The students baked their way to success and raised an amazing £679.17 – what a tasteful way to raise money!
Glusburn Primary School in North Yorkshire squeezed and amazing amount of activities into one day! They had the busiest Day for Change ever and managed to fit in an art competition, raft building, playing South American musical instruments, a special Guyanese lunch, a quiz, a teacher and student swap, a staff cake competition and there was a special Day for Change assembly. All this raised £293.63. Phew! Then they all went home for a well earned rest!
At Sixpenny Handley First School in Dorset came up with a brilliant idea of changing your appearance! The class that raised the most money got to change the appearance of Headteacher Mrs Hewitt. The reception class won and as you can see from the photos had great fun dressing up Mrs Hewitt – doesn’t she look lovely! Thank you very much to the school council for all your superb efforts!
