In April 2010 we launched a new partnership with the British Karate Federation to raise vital funds for our work to uphold every child’s right to an education. All karate clubs in the UK will be encouraged to undertake a fundraising challenge to help us reach our target of £20,000 in the first year.
On 9-11 July 2010, the British International Open Karate Championships was held in Glasgow and provided us with an opportunity to engage members with UNICEF's work and the different ways they can help.
Although there are now more than 1 billion children in school worldwide, we cannot ignore the 100 million children, the majority of them girls, who are still denied their right to go to primary school. Education enhances the lives of children and the societies in which they live and with the support of the British Karate Federation we can help ensure that all children get the education they deserve so that they are able to thrive. For more information on our work on education, please see our infosheet on the right to an education.
