Lions Clubs International have long sought to improve the quality of life of young people and have developed a close working relationship with UNICEF, becoming formally affiliated with them in 1994.
Lions Clubs in the UK are committed to supporting our Edukit Appeal
- One Edukit costs just £170
In the wake of emergencies – whether violent conflicts or devastating earthquakes – children desperately need a lifeline. They need help recovering from trauma and crave a sense of security. This is precisely what an Edukit or School-in-a-Box can do. Like all good ideas, it is a very simple one.
An Edukit is a portable aluminium container filled with hundreds of supplies that enable at least 40 children and their teacher to create an instant classroom, no matter where they are.
In 2009 the contents of the Edukit were revised and now contain a wind-up solar radio. This new addition enables displaced children to keep in touch with the world outside the camp and is also an invaluable teaching aid.
If your Lions Club would like to donate to the Edukit Appeal, please send your contribution to your District Treasurer. It would be great if every club could donate the cost of an Edukit to help us reach more children in need.
Cheques should be made payable to Lions Club International, District (your district) with your allocation. Please state that it's for the UNICEF Edukit.
If you have any queries, please contact your District Officer or Multiple District Officer – Lion John Charles on 01594 516263 or email john.charles@fsmail.net
