UNICEF welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire in Gaza.

Since hostilities began last week, at least 22 children in the Occupied Palestinian Territories have been killed, with several hundred injured. Four Israelis have been killed and more than 50 reported injured including 14 children.

In times of conflict, children are always the most vulnerable to violence or the distress caused by violence.

How is UNICEF helping?

UNICEF has people on the ground in both Gaza and Israel. Emergency teams have been sent to hospitals and homes to speak with children and families who have witnessed or been victims of violence.

We are helping to provide drugs, medical supplies and therapeutic milk for severely injured children, as well as food, clean water and psychological couselling for children who have witnessed violence.
