Actor and adventurer Charley Boorman became involved with UNICEF in 2004 when he visited UNICEF projects whilst circumnavigating the world with his friend Ewan McGregor during the Long Way Round. During their second motorbike adventure Long Way Down he also saw UNICEF's work with child soldiers in Uganda and land-mine awareness programmes in Ethiopia. He went on to highlight our work for children affected by HIV and AIDS through the documentary The Missing Face filmed in Swaziland.
A committed and passionate supporter, Charley became an Ambassador in 2008 and has continued to visit UNICEF projects while filming his TV programmes By Any Means. He regularly supports UNICEF UK's challenging fundraising events such as marathons (leading by example and running the Royal Parks Half Marathon), runs, treks and of course motorbike rallies.
