In just over a week, 23 of our supporters will be ready to embark on the challenge of a lifetime: a nine-day trek through the country of Jordan to raise money for UNICEF.

The trek, beginning in Finan on 8 May, will pass through lavish green valleys and beautiful mountain landscapes before arriving at the magnificent city of Petra eight days later.

This will be no walk in the park. Each participant has had to fully train for the trek, and must fundraise a minimum sponsorship amount of £2,600. So far, an amazing £45,000 has been raised.

At the end of the trip the participants will visit two UNICEF projects to see exactly how their money will benefit the children of Jordan. One project is centred around sport and how it can benefit children, especially those with disabilities. The other addresses the issue of violence against children at school.

UNICEF would like to send its best wishes to all the trekkers taking part. Readers can also follow updates on the trek at our Facebook, Twitter and blog pages.
