Runners in the 2010 Marathon of Marathons, which took place in Greece last October, have donated £600,000 to UNICEF.

The marathon, held in Athens, was organised by the private equity firm Campbell Lutyens and featured over 250 runners from the private equity and infrastructure business communities.

Of the €1.4 million that was raised by the runners, half of the funds were donated to UNICEF and the other half divided between a number of other children's charities around the world. In total UNICEF UK will receive approximately £600,000.

"UNICEF is proud to be associated with this fantastic event," said Julie Weston, director of fundraising at UNICEF. "We want to thank the Campbell Lutyens Organising Committee and the Marathon of Marathons trustees and executives who made the event such an overwhelming success."
