Climate change, food systems and children: a case for greater action

Children are the least responsible for climate change and yet are the most vulnerable to its impact. One of the most significant effects of climate change is the impact on the global food system as it changes rainfall patterns, reduces agricultural yields and affects food security.

The impacts of climate change on the food system pose serious threats to children, particularly those in low income countries.

The UK Government, as an important actor in international climate action and international development has a vital role to play in implementing measures to counter the consequences of climate change. UNICEF UK recommends urgent action by the UK Government.
