In 2011, thousands of children around the world still die every day from diaorrhea and other bacterial diseases because of poor sanitation.
Here, Jane Bevan, a water and sanitation specialist for UNICEF in West Africa, explains how even basic toilets and clean water can save children's lives. The accompanying photos come from UNICEF water and sanitation projects, including Cote d'Ivoire and Malawi.
