16 February 2015 – One week on from launching 7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund – a new global initiative that will protect children in danger around the world - UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham has today added his voice to UNICEF’s ‘¿No te indigna?’ campaign  to end violence against children and adolescents in El Salvador.

'7' is Beckham's personal commitment over the next decade to helping the world's most vulnerable children.

In El Salvador thousands of children are in danger from violence, in their homes, in their streets and in their schools. In his first act since launching ‘7’, Beckham is speaking out for those children. He has recorded a short video message supporting UNICEF’s ‘¿No te indigna?’ campaign that will be broadcast across El Salvador from today and will appear in local billboard posters and print adverts.

The in-country campaign hopes to raise awareness of the many forms of violence which affect children in El Salvador, the country with the highest child homicide rates in the world.

David Beckham, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, said: “Every day, violence affects thousands of children and adolescents in El Salvador. It’s an outrage - violence in their homes, schools and streets. El Salvador has the highest rate in the world of homicides of children and adolescents and, together, we can change this.”

“This is the first thing I'm doing since launching 7: The David Beckham UNICEF Fund - over the next ten years I want to use my voice to affect change for children as well as raise funds. I hope this campaign will have a positive impact on children and families in El Salvador and help protect them from violence.”

As well as backing the anti-violence drive in El Salvador, Beckham is also asking people around the world to join him in calling on world leaders to put children first and help end violence, preventable death and poverty for every child, wherever they live.

In 2015 the world will agree new global goals that could change children’s lives for years to come. Join David Beckham and UNICEF in calling on global leaders to put children first. Together, we can help end violence, preventable death and poverty for every child. Add your voice now at 7.org.
