Own A Colour - a brand new global fundraising initiative - has recently launched to raise money in aid of UNICEF. The Own A Colour website offers the chance for everyone to buy their own personal colour for a minimum donation of at least £1 per colour. All money raised will be donated to UNICEF, the world’s leading children’s organisation.

In total, 16.77 million colours are being sold, the maximum number of different colours visible on a computer screen. The concept is the brainchild of a small group of people who wanted to use colour for the greater good and make a difference to millions of vulnerable children across the globe.

People visiting the Own A Colour website can scroll through a spectrum of 16.77 million colours and can select and own their unique colour. People might choose to buy their favourite colour,  a colour that is trending at that moment, or a colour near to one recently purchased by a celebrity supporter. Once a colour has been selected, it takes just a few minutes to register and make a donation. Everyone will then have the option to tell their friends and family about their purchase through Facebook, Twitter and other social media channels.

Sir Roger Moore, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, supports Own a Colour and said about his colour choice, ‘I am the proud new owner of a shade of blue, which I have named ‘Swedish Blue’.  It is the colour of the Swedish flag, the homeland of my very wonderful and very beautiful wife, Kristina, and not far off the cyan blue that represents UNICEF.  Both Kristina and UNICEF are extremely close to my heart - they are part of who I am and all that is good and great in this world.’
Own a Colour is powered by Dulux that has a mission of ‘Adding Colour to People’s Lives’, and has already helped to improve the living environment of many people across the world through their Let’s Colour programme.
David O’Brien, Global Innovation Director, Dulux said, “Right now millions of children are failing to receive adequate healthcare, clean water or an education. Children are dying from preventable diseases and are subjected to violence, abuse and discrimination.

“Dulux Let’s Colour programme is committed to improving the environment of communities.  Our team is pleased to be involved with developing this unique project.  We are appealing to all our employees who can spare at least £1 to buy a colour to help save a child’s life.”
