Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP are supporting UNICEF’s work in Mozambique, to improve children’s access to safe water in schools.
Rainwater harvesting technology will be installed to collect potable water, which will be especially valuable in remote and semi-arid areas such as Chibuto, Buzi and Changara.
This project will help keep children in school, in particular girls and orphaned and vulnerable children, by tackling barriers such as poor health, poor access to safe drinking water, and inadequate sanitation facilities within schools.
Freshfields also chose UNICEF as their beneficiary charity for their 2010 Christmas e-card campaign.
Using what they would have spent sending Christmas cards, Freshfields made a donation to UNICEF’s work in Cambodia, helping vulnerable children living on the streets of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, ensuring they are protected, rehabilitated and reintegrated back into their communities and where possible, to their families or foster families.
