Tell Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg to put it right by prioritising the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children at this September’s important United Nations meeting. Spin the Unfair Wheel and take our interactive email petition now.
Or skip the animated action and go straight to the e-petition.
Around the world, millions of children have their rights denied because they don’t have access to safe water and proper sanitation facilities, such as toilets. This is wrong.
Diseases caused by unsafe water and a lack of sanitation are one of the leading causes of child mortality, with 1.5 million children dying from diarrhoea-related diseases each year. The lack of private toilets in schools and having to walk miles for water means girls are often denied their right to education, trapping them in a cycle of poverty. It’s not fair.
In 2000, the UN set out eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to be achieved by 2015. If met, these goals would transform the lives of billions people.
The sanitation goal has fallen way behind target for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups of children. It’s time to put it right – ask Nick Clegg to ensure a fairer future for children by securing decisive action on water and sanitation at the UN meeting on the MDGs this September.
We will make doubly sure that the Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg gets your call to action by collating all your messages and presenting them to him in advance of the UN meeting in September.
