Take action

Step 1 of 4: About the campaign

Take action on water and sanitation

Caroline is 10 years old and lives in Western Uganda. The beautiful lake near her home is Caroline’s only source of water for drinking and washing. Yet every time Caroline goes to the lake she risks contracting the waterborne disease, Bilharzia. This parasite causes painful stomach aches, diarrhoea and left untreated can lead to life-threatening illnesses. Sadly, Caroline’s experience is not unique.

Waterborne diseases, like Bilharzia, are spread by unsafe drinking water and poor sanitation. Every year, these cause 1.5 million child deaths and deny millions more the right to be healthy. In April UNICEF is organising the first ever international high level meeting on Sanitation for All: Global Framework for Action on Water and Sanitation. This new global initiative aims to mobilise the political will needed to address the water and sanitation crisis. Help us Put it Right for children by signing our petition.

We are calling for high level UK government attendance at the high level meeting and to use its influence to ensure other governments do the same.
