Please take part in UNICEF’s Jar of Grace Appeal and help us to fulfill every child's right to an education

Jar of grace logoThe Jar of Grace appeal invites Christians to set aside a special jar into which they can drop a coin whenever they say grace at mealtime.

Jar of Grace can be run during harvest, Advent, Lent, Easter or at any other convenient time. To promote the appeal, we can provide your church with leaflets, posters and information sheets.

For more information on the appeal and to order a Jar of Grace pack, please email Helpdesk on Helpdesk or call 0870 606 3377. Alternatively, click here to order your Jar of Grace pack online or download a Jar of Grace information sheet.

Why Jar of Grace is supporting our Education work

More than 121 million children around the world are not in school. This figure is astounding considering education is every child’s right.

School transforms lives. It offers learning, increased self confidence, social and negotiation skills and earning power. It also enables children to protect themselves against exploitation and ill health.

The negative effects of missing out on school are greater for girls than for boys. Whether educated or not, girls are more at risk than boys from HIV/AIDS, sexual exploitation and child trafficking. Without the knowledge and life skills that school can provide, these risks are multiplied. In addition, children often miss out because they are trapped in conflict zones or living in remote areas with little or no access to education.

UNICEF is committed to changing this and ensuring that every child has access to an education. We provide educational materials, train teachers, build schools and develop curricula. In order to achieve this, we desperately need your help.

How your donation will help:

  • £4 will provide 10 children with a sketch pad and set of 8 colouring crayons each
  • £19 will provide children with 150 exercise books to last them an entire year
  • £80 will provide 6 weeks of teacher training for one individual
  • £125 is enough to supply a ‘School-in-a-box’, full of enough materials for UNICEF to set up a temporary school for 80 children during times of emergency
