The 2005 Flora London Marathon UNICEF Golden Bond places
UNICEF has 17 Golden Bond places available for 2007. We usually get more applications than places, so sadly have to disappoint some applicants. We request that you sign up for the ballot too, as this ensures you have more chance of obtaining your place, but it also allows us to give the Golden Bond places to runners who did not manage to obtain a place.
Golden Bond places are guaranteed places that UNICEF has to pay for. Golden Bond runners for UNICEF are expected to pledge at least £1,500 in sponsorship for UNICEF because of this.
The UNICEF Gold Bond application process has been open since August and will close on 1 December and places will be allocated from December onwards. To apply for a Golden Bond place, or register your interest in becoming an own place runner, please call 0870 606 3377 or email marathon@unicef.org.uk with your full postal address so that we can send you the application pack. Demand for places is high, so please take time to fill in the application form as places are awarded on the merit of this form.
What do I have to do if I get a Golden Bond place through UNICEF?
We ask runners who obtain one of our Golden Bond places to send us a post-dated cheque for £300 in December, representing a contribution towards their total pledged sponsorship. The cheque should be post-dated 30 June 2007. Should UNICEF not receive at least the pledged sponsorship amount by 30 June 2007, we will have to cash the cheque as an additional donation towards the pledged amount. Full details can be found in our marathon application pack.
Golden Bond places will be allocated in December, usually once we know the results of the ballot. If we allocate a Golden Bond place to you and you obtain a place through the ballot, please let us know as soon as possible and no later than 1 January, so we can give your place to someone else.
Many thanks for your interest in running for UNICEF.
