UNICEF and sport

We believe that sport has the power to change children’s lives. We’re working to ensure that every child has the right to play.

Sport and play are a crucial part of every child’s life. By taking part in sports, children learn to develop self-confidence, motivate themselves and lead active lifestyles. It’s therefore critical that sports protect, respect and promotes children’s rights.

We lead pioneering developmental work in, around and through sport to improve the lives of children.

Our leading sporting partners and ambassadors use the incredible power of sport to shine a spotlight on children’s rights and to help raise valuable funds for our work for children around the world.

We partner with teams, governing bodies, events and brands to increase their social impact, deliver key business benefits and support children in the UK and around the world.

Our partnerships cut across golf, football, sailing, motorsport, rugby league and cricket – supporting a variety of different key UNICEF themes, from sport for development to emergencies to climate change. Our dedicated teams work closely with our individual partner representatives to mobilise the greatest impact possible for every child.
