Now Syria's children face more danger – a bitter winter
The five-year conflict in Syria is the greatest humanitarian crisis since World War 2. Syria’s children have lost loved ones, homes and schools. Millions have been forced to flee, while the children still in Syria face daily danger from war as well as the threat of disease and hunger. Now the children face a new threat – a freezing winter.
War has taken their homes. Don't let winter take their lives
More than 8 million Syrian children are in urgent need of humanitarian aid. Their lives have been turned upside down. Many refugee children are living in makeshift shelters without adequate clothing or protection from the cold, leaving them at risk of hypothermia, pneumonia and other deadly diseases. Malnutrition, especially for the youngest and most vulnerable children, is a real threat.
Many displaced families were forced to flee Syria with just the clothes on their backs. They don't have the protection to withstand the freezing winter.
How will my donation help children?
Unicef is one of the few organisations working inside Syria, as well as delivering humanitarian aid across the region. Our teams are working around the clock to deliver life-saving warm winter clothes and shoes to keep Syrian children safe and warm. But as the temperatures are dropping, we need your help to reach every child. We need to act fast.
Please donate today and join us as we launch our largest ever winter appeal to help protect Syrian children from the deadly winter.
Your donation will be doubled by the UK Government, meaning that your gift will go even further to help save more children's lives this winter.
The extent of the crisis in and around Syria has meant that Unicef is finding it increasingly difficult to reach the million of children affected by this emergency.Unicef is funded entirely by voluntary contributions, We receive no funding from the UN budget.
For the first 12 months monthly donations made to this appeal will go to children affected by the Syrian conflict. After that they will go to our Children's Emergency Fund. In the unlikely event that the funds raised exceed Unicef's funding requirements for this appeal, your one off gift will also go to our Children's Emergency Fund, helping children caught in wars and disasters around the world.
