Almost 2 million Syrian children have been forced to flee their homes.
The world has been shocked by the heart-breaking images of children’s bodies washing up on the shores of Europe. This year alone, more than 2,700 people have died trying to reach Europe, the majority of them drowning in the Mediterranean.
By far the largest number of refugees are from Syria. In the past three months, 80 per cent of refugees crossing the border between Greece and Macedonia have come from Syria.
Unicef will not rest until we reach every child in danger.
Unicef is working around the clock to make sure that Syrian children and refugees are provided with life-saving supplies such as clean water, medicine and psychosocial support. We won’t stop until every child is safe.
Unicef is one of the few organisations working inside Syria, as well as delivering humanitarian aid across the region. With no end to the conflict in sight, we are focusing on strengthening infrastructures such as water and power systems. We will continue to strive to reach those living in the gravest danger under siege in Syria.
It is not enough for the world to be shocked by images. Shock must be matched by action. Please help Unicef to keep children safe, both at home and where they are seeking refuge.

The extent of the refugee crisis has meant that Unicef is finding it increasingly difficult to meet the needs of those affected by this emergency, and urgently need your help to reach millions of children. Unicef is funded entirely by voluntary contributions. We receive no funding from the UN budget.
For the first 12 months monthly donations made to this appeal will go to children affected by the Syrian conflict. After that they will go to our Children's Emergency Fund. In the unlikely event that the funds raised exceed Unicef's funding requirements for this appeal, your one off or monthly gift will also go to the Children's Emergency Fund.
