Hi,
On 8th May 2009 I will be joining a group of volunteers on a 10 day trek in the Himalayan Mountains of Nepal on behalf of UNICEF to raise funds to support child vaccination and education projects in the region.
The trek will reach the summit of Pike Peak at just over 4000m in altitude, from where we should be able to view neighbouring Mount Everest.
Representing a physical challenge, requiring a lot of preparation; we will be travelling light across steep and rough terrain and camping in temperatures around -10 oC (a challenge in itself!). I am also aiming to raise a minimum of £3000 to support this much needed cause. Any support you can give me towards this goal will be greatly appreciated and extremely well received by UNICEF to support the children of Nepal in need of basic health and education.
As I am covering all my own travel costs, ALL The money raised will directly benefit the children of Nepal.
In addition to any on-line support you may be able to contribute towards, I am also organising a Charity Auction, Dinner Dance on the 19th September 2008. So far we have been donated some amazing prizes (signed rugby and football memorabilia, Premiership Football tickets, flying and driving experiences to name a few of the prizes). For more info or to book tickets please send me a message, there are only limited tickets available so book early to avoid disappointment.
More details on my dedicated website www.stevestrek.co.uk where you can view updates of my progress and receive realtime pics and twitter from the trek itself.
UNICEF helps children receive the support, health care and education they need to survive the threats of childhood poverty - such as preventable disease or malnutrition - and grow up to become healthy adults. You can read more about their work on http://unicef.org.uk
Please help me get the ball rolling and make any generous contribution you can afford to this cause, its easy on-line, also please don't forget to tick the gift aid box if you can, UNICEF receive an 30% donation if you do. Thank you on my own and UNICEF's behalf.
Best wishes Steve Brown
