Put it Right is a major, five-year initiative by UNICEF UK.
It aims to inspire unprecedented action in the UK to protect the rights of children everywhere.
All children have rights – the right to a childhood, to be healthy, to be educated, to be treated fairly and to be heard. Yet millions are denied their rights every day and the global recession, climate change and HIV and AIDS are making the situation even worse.
Put it Right aims to realise the rights of children by raising funds for programmes and campaigning for action by the Government. Our work to make child rights central to the UK’s approach to children will focus on UK laws, policies, communities and schools.
At the heart of the Put it Right initiative are the true stories of five children from around the world, who represent the millions of children denied their rights. Each child’s story takes as its focus one of the five rights that all children have, but collectively they highlight the interconnectedness of all child rights: how if one right is denied, a child’s other rights may be affected; and that all rights are equal.
It is wrong for a child to die of hunger or due to a lack of clean water. It is wrong for a child to miss out on school, or to be exploited or discriminated against.
We’re asking the UK public to help UNICEF put it right by supporting our initiative to protect the rights of children.
How you can help put it right
- Donate to UNICEF and help us reach our initial goal of £55 million to fund our work to protect the rights of children around the world.
- Take action by joining our water and sanitation campaign. We are calling for the Government to tackle this global crisis that is causing around 1.5 million child deaths a year and denying millions more children their right to be healthy.
- Fundraise for UNICEF’s global work to protect child rights.
