The UK Government has prepared its report to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child on how it is fulfilling its obligations towards children under the Convention. The report is being submitted to the Committee on the Rights of the Child in mid July 2007. The Department for Children, Schools and Families has coordinated the preparation of the UK report.

The report covers the work of 12 Whitehall departments and the devolved administrations. It will consist of eight chapters, as recommended by the UN Committee guidance, which will incorporate information from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The decision to have a single UK report is based on guidance provided by the UN Committee to the UK Government and was made jointly with the Devolved Administrations. The UK report will also contain reports from Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies as annexes. Examination of the UK report by the UN Committee will be held in 2008.
