A drizzly Friday morning in Poole was given some vibrancy last week when 2,000 local school children gathered in the park to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child (CRC) in the Stand Up and Be Counted rally.
Children congregated from 22 different schools to celebrate the momentous day through poetry, music, dance and speeches. As Jessica, a student and Newsround Press Packer, put it, the whole day was summed up by article 12 of the Convention – the right for children to have a voice and a say in decisions that affect them.
