Sir Roger Moore visits UNICEF projects in Cambodia

In his first mission since being formally knighted, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Sir Roger Moore visited Cambodia on 23-24 October to promote the increased production and use of iodized salt to combat iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), a major threat to the health and development Cambodian children.

Sir Roger and his wife, Lady Kristina Moore, travelled to Cambodia's southern Kampot Province, the source of more than 80 per cent of the country's salt production, to meet with salt producers and government officials. Only 12 per cent of Cambodian households currently consume iodized salt – one of the lowest iodized salt coverage levels in the world – and hundreds of thousands of Cambodian children are at risk of impaired mental and physical development due to iodine deficiencies.
