Björk launches charity record for UNICEF

Recording artist Björk will release a charity record on 2 May 2005 in aid of UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund.

Prompted by the devastating effect the recent Asian Tsunami had on children in the region, Björk decided to put together a CD collection of cover versions and mixes of her song “Army Of Me”.

All proceeds from the CD will go towards UNICEF’s emergency work with children around the world, similar to those in Tsunami-affected regions. During an emergency, UNICEF typically provides:

  • Emergency supplies, including essential drugs, oral rehydration salts and intravenous fluids;
  • All children with vitamin A drops, which helps to significantly reduce the risk of mortality and improves a child’s ability to resist illness;
