What is UNICEF doing to help children in Niger?
In Niger, UNICEF is providing therapeutic and supplementary food and essential drugs to help treat malnourished children. UNICEF has now supported therapeutic feeding programmes that have treated around 290,000 children.
Treating malnutrition is different from providing food aid. Recent reports in the news have shown images of children receiving treatment for malnutrition, whilst focusing on problems surrounding the delivery of food aid. Although linked, treating malnutrition and providing food aid are not quite the same.
