In January 2006 Björk travelled with UNICEF UK to Banda Aceh in Indonesia to view some of UNICEF's work with children affected by the Asian tsunami on Boxing Day 2004.
Prompted by the devastating effect the tsunami had on children in the region, in May 2005 Björk released a CD collection of cover versions and mixes of her song “Army Of Me”. All proceeds from the CD went to UNICEF's emergency work around the world.
In this photo Björk meets a mother and one of her four children, who live in a one room tent in a fishing village which was devastated by the tsunami. The woman lost her husband, her house and all her possession in the tsunami. She will receive a new home from the government when the building is complete.
