Soccer Aid – give HIV/AIDS the boot!

Give HIV the boot!

In 2005 UNICEF UK was part of MAKEPOVERTYHISTORY, the largest anti-poverty movement of all time. Many of our supporters wore white bands, campaigned against poverty and enjoyed the Live 8 concert.

UNICEF UK continues to work to Make Child Poverty History and campaign for a better world for children through our Unite against AIDS campaign.

HIV is ruining the lives and hopes of millions of children worldwide. It’s a disease that can affect every aspect of a child’s life.

Children are losing their parents to the disease, having to leave school to nurse family members, and having to act as a parent to younger brothers and sisters, when their parents die. Children are also being born with the HIV virus in large numbers too. This leaves many children with no chance whatsoever of a future.

Already today 15 million children have been orphaned by AIDS and every year around 300,000 children aged under five die of an AIDS-related illness. Without treatment, some 45 per cent of children born with HIV die before their second birthday.

That’s why UNICEF UK urgently needs your help to give HIV the boot.
