Discussing Global Issues: How do we make Peace? is one of a series of succinct resources for teachers and youth group leaders to build young people’s awareness, knowledge and skills of a range of local and global issues. Each resource incorporates a colour photoset and case studies from a range of countries. A series of activities invite young people to use photographs, case studies and information in order to to develop a greater understanding of the importance of peace to children and young people’s development. The activities in the booklet are ideal for a short course or theme day/week.
The six case studies describe initiatives involving young people in Burundi, Cambodia, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Their involvement in peace processes in their communities are an example of the various ways young people can be actively involved in making peace, building a peaceful community and maintaining it. The activities in the booklet are ideal for a short course or theme day/week.
