Working with schools

“We provide expertise on children’s rights and global citizenship for young people, and those involved in their education, through classroom sessions, staff training and high quality resources.

We are working towards a rights-based world in which all children are enabled to fulfil their full potential.”

Visit Teacherzone to find out more about UNICEF UK Education Department’s continually developing programme of support for schools, teachers, teacher trainers, youth workers and young people through a range of activities and resources.

The UNICEF UK Education Department has regionally-based staff throughout the UK who provide free in-service training to teachers, governors and young people about the content and relevance of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child to their school and daily lives, as well as to the lives of children around the world.

UNICEF UK works closely with teachers to understand their support needs on issues of rights, responsibilities and citizenship. The ‘Rights Respecting Schools’ award scheme is being developed for schools that wish to put children’s rights at the heart of their work. Details wil be available on Teacherzone in early 2005.

UNICEF UK produces printed and electronic resources to support the promotion of children’s rights in schools, youth groups and communities. School resources are curriculum-referenced and packed with classroom activities. Teacherzone has information and access to all resources.
