Stand up for Every Child’s Right to Education
Call on the UK Government to strengthen education systems, so that every child can continue to learn, grow and achieve their full potential.
Covid-19 has put the future of a generation of children at risk by disrupting their right to education. Without the opportunity to learn, children cannot reach their full potential.
At the height of the pandemic, an alarming 1.6 billion learners were out of school, highlighting how much education is put in peril during crises like Covid-19. Yet, for many children, the pandemic is not the first crisis – and it will not be the last – to interrupt their learning and put their futures at risk.
Climate change is an ongoing emergency that threatens children's lives and their education, uprooting millions from their homes. Whether children are driven to move because of extreme weather events like flooding, drought or wildfires – or slower onset emergencies like rising sea levels and desertification – children not only see their lives disrupted, but their right to learn, too.
This is a crucial year for children’s right to education. As the UK Government hosts the G7 Summit and the Global Education Summit, they can lead the way in learning the lessons from Covid-19 to future proof education in the face of climate change.
That’s why we are calling on the UK Government to commit to, invest in and champion resilient education systems, so no child's education is interrupted ever again. Resilient education systems strong enough to withstand the shocks that we know are coming, flexible enough to support children as they navigate these shocks, and prepared enough so children can continue to learn if they find themselves on the move.

- The UK Government should lead investment in education by securing a successful Global Partnership for Education replenishment at the Global Education Summit and delivering a progressive commitment to spending 15% of UK Aid on education.
- The UK Government should champion resilient and inclusive education systems for children displaced by climate.
