Colin Jackson, the former 110m hurdles Olympic silver medalist, started supporting Unicef UK in 2009 through International Inspiration – London 2012’s global sports legacy programme for children and young people.

In 2010, Colin visited Trinidad and Tobago where he saw how International Inspiration projects are helping young people build a better future for themselves through physical education, sport and play.

An exhibition was held at the Museum of London in 2012 to celebrate the programme – The Inspired by Sport exhibition featured iconic photos by Rankin of athletes including Lord Seb Coe, Denise Lewis, Colin Jackson and Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson; as well as images of young people around the world whose lives have been enriched by the International Inspiration programme.

In 2013, Colin recorded a personalised running video to support Unicef UK’s runners who take part in sponsored events across the country in aid of our work for children each year. Colin supported the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and Unicef partnership by visiting a Baby Friendly Initiative hospital in Glasgow and seeing how simple interventions such as skin to skin contact between mother and baby can help those babies born prematurely.
