Working with Unicef

EE has supported Unicef’s disaster and emergency relief work for over 10 years, a partnership that’s helped to raise more than £5.6 million for children through emergency appeals.

Our Text to Donate campaigns, coordinated by EE, enable EE customers to make donations to Unicef emergency appeals simply by replying to a text message sent out by the network. The donation is added to customer phone bills or taken off their airtime.

Such campaigns allow us to collect donations immediately, something which is vital during an emergency. This immediacy helps us to send out aid and provisions to affected areas as quickly as possible to support children in urgent need.

In 2015, EE raised more than £1million for children affected by the Nepal Earthquake, through customer donations, staff fundraising, as well as corporate support..

“EE has supported Unicef’s disaster and emergency relief work for more than 10 years, helping raise over £5.6 million for children through emergency appeals.” said Kate Goldman, Unicef UK’s Director of Partnerships and Philanthropy. “It’s incredible to see EE’s staff and  customers come together, in times of crisis, to help Unicef keep children safe. The funds EE has raised has helped Unicef save and transform hundreds and thousands of lives. We want to say a huge thank you to all EE’s staff and customers for their longstanding support. Together we will continue to be there for children in danger and build a safer world for tomorrow’s children.
