Heald Place Primary create a children’s rights BookBench in Manchester

The BookBench was created by Heald Place Primary School as part of the Read Manchester literacy campaign. All 85 BookBenches displayed across the city have been designed by local children and community groups, who were inspired by books and reading.

In partnership with Wild in Art, the BookBench project is part of the Read Manchester campaign from Manchester City Council and the National Literacy Trust. The campaign promotes reading across the city to boost literacy levels.

The design of this bench was inspired by the book The Journey by Francesca Sanna, which tells the story of two girls and their family, and the hard decisions they must make as they escape war. The book features several of the articles of the Convention.
