Fundraise in emergencies

How can your school help?

Home > Unicef Teaching Resources > Fundraise in emergencies

When war breaks out or natural disasters strike, children can lose their schools, their homes and their families.

Many of their rights can be seriously affected, including the right to clean water and nutritious food (Article 24), the right to be safe (Article 19) and the right to education (Article 28), and children are left more vulnerable to abuse and explotiation.

Your school can help support Unicef, so we can continue to deliver life-saving supplies and keep vulnerable children safe in emergencies. One of the most recent emergencies Unicef has been responding to is Cyclone Idai – you can download an assembly presentation to inspire students and teachers to get fundraising!

Fundraising also supports your RRSA accreditation, contributing towards Outcome 9 in Strand C: children and young people have taken action to claim their rights and promote the rights of others, locally and globally. It’s also a good opportunity to get your RRSA Steering Group and other children in your school involved.
