Good practice review of the Rights Respecting Schools Award
The Good Practice Review draws on research focusing on nine schools from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to demonstrate.
The research is the product of a partnership between Unicef UK and researchers for the Universities of Brighton and Sussex, and included both interviews with pupils, staff, school leaders, parents and governors; and an analysis of relevant documents, such as curriculum plans, the Award and behaviour policies, Award presentations, and inspection reports.
The Good Practice Review aims to help all schools to develop similarly strong profiles by providing guidance on how to get started, how to implement the Award, showcasing the impact of the programme on the school, children and young people, staff and the local community, and also illustrates how a Rights Respecting School can exceed the criteria of a ‘good school’.
The report builds on the findings from the Evaluation of Unicef UK’s Rights Respecting Schools Award published in 2010.
