Donate to help protect children in Colombia and worldwide

On 10 August, a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck Colombia’s Pacific Coast, putting children and families at risk. Reports show that it has killed more than 100 people and collapsed dozens of buildings.

The earthquake struck near San José del Palmar in western Colombia. Tremors were felt across much of the country and in neighbouring Ecuador and Venezuela.

Homes, buildings and infrastructure have been damaged in affected communities.

UNICEF is working with national authorities and partners to assess the immediate needs of children and families.

When earthquakes hit, we respond immediately with life-saving assistance, including:

  • medical care
  • protection services
  • safe water
  • hygiene supplies
  • emotional support

We urgently need your help to reach children and families impacted by disasters like these around the world. Just £10 a month could help families purify water for drinking and washing by providing 3,300 water purification tablets in a crisis like this.

Please donate today to help protect children around the world.

How to donate to Colombia and worldwide

We respond in moments of crisis, but we also stay for the long term, helping to build safer, healthier futures for children everywhere.

A monthly donation enables us to provide continuous support to children when they need it most, through vital food, access to healthcare and a safe space to play.

Your donation can help protect children affected by emergencies in Colombia and worldwide. However you choose to donate, you will be helping to make a difference to the lives of children.
