Donate to help us reach more children and families affected by Venezuela earthquakes
On Wednesday 24 June, two powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela just seconds apart, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude. At least 1,450 people have died and more than 3,150 have been injured, with numbers likely to rise.
This is the most significant seismic event to hit the country in more than a century.
The impact has been widespread. In Caracas and the states of Aragua, Carabobo, Falcón, La Guaira and Miranda, homes, schools and hospitals have been badly damaged or destroyed.
UNICEF estimates that 1.8 million people, including 680,000 children, now need urgent help.
Please donate to help us reach more children in Venezuela.
How we are responding to the earthquakes in Venezuela
We have rapidly scaled up our emergency response. We are working closely with partners to assess needs and provide life-saving support.
Since 25 June, UNICEF has delivered 67 tonnes of emergency supplies to Venezuela, enough to support more than 100,000 children and their families.
These shipments contained:
- Emergency health kits for urgent medical care, safe births, newborn care and disease prevention and treatment
- Water purification and storage supplies to provide safe drinking water
- Tents for setting up child-friendly spaces and service points
- Mobility aids, including wheelchairs
- Recreational supplies to support children’s education and wellbeing
Even before the earthquakes, nearly 4 million children in Venezuela needed humanitarian support. Many families were already struggling to access food, medicine and other essentials. This disaster is likely to push even more children into crisis.
Please donate to help us reach more children in Venezuela now.

If you’re in the UK and would prefer to make a donation by phone, you can call our dedicated donation line: 0300 330 5699.
How will your Venezuela donation be used?
For the first 3 months, monthly donations made to the appeal will go towards funding our work to support children affected by the humanitarian crises in Venezuela, including the recent earthquakes. After that, donations will go to support our work around the world. Any Gift Aid claimed on donations made to this appeal will support UNICEF’s work around the world.
In the unlikely event that the funds raised exceed what’s needed for the Venezuela earthquakes appeal, we will direct any excess funds to support our work to help keep children safe and healthy around the world.
Donating items and volunteering
We’re currently not accepting any items for the Venezuela emergency appeal. These kind offers are really appreciated, but any donated items will need to be sorted, cleaned and transported which could impact our response, so please consider making a monetary donation instead to our emergency appeals. UNICEF does not send volunteers overseas.
